John Bullock’s Eggnog.

Vacation time! Hubby and I are headed out for a week to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Expect LOTS of “escape cville” blogs upon our return. Also working on restaurant reviews: BBQ Exchange, Korea House, The Clifton Inn. Another foodie giveaway when the Facebook “likes” reach 250! Congratulations to Jennifer Alluisi on winning the first giveaway. Cheers, see you in a week. . .

Whenever I think eggnog, I think of Grandpa John and * that * Christmas. It was Christmas Eve, and I’d driven from Richmond to spend the holidays with Nana and Grandpa John. Except that year Nana was spending Christmas in the hospital. Boat Drink Friday.

80 degrees in March? I can’t think of a better reason for boat drinks. Made famous by Jimmy Buffett, but the term always reminds me of one of my favorite movies, “Things To Do In Denver When You’re Dead”. Today’s boat drink? The Mint Limonata. Found online at Chow, and enjoyed on our back deck this Friday evening. Something tells me it won’t be the last time we enjoy one of these……light, lemony, minty. Tastes like summer’s fleeting promise :D Cheers!

Mint Limonata
from Aida Mollenkamp at
Crushed ice
2 ounces limoncello
1 ounce vodka
2 ounces soda water
2 medium mint leaves, torn in half

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add limoncello and vodka. Shake to combine.
Add soda water to and stir to mix in. Pour into a rocks glass and top with torn mint leavesd.

Author’s note: I muddled the leaves first before adding to the shaker for more minty goodness.
