Every week, a listing of food-related news and events happening in and around Charlottesville, Virginia. This week? Edible News

Peter Chang is hiring……….in Atlanta. :D

The Downtown Hot Dog Company has announced they are now serving sweet potato tater tots! I mean, is there any better food news? Any better?! SWEET POTATO TATER TOTS!

Tavola now has gift baskets containing gift certificates, artisan meats and cheeses, wines, and their very own tee shirt. I can’t think of a better holiday gift for your “tavola”.

Ten has invited everyone to treat themselves this holiday season – they are offering a 3-course tasting menu for $30. What a bargain! Considering the 2nd course omikase sushi would probably run you $18 and the 3rd course Hawaiian Walu would run at least $22 someplace else, this is a steal!

Culpeper residents Chuck and Jeannette Miller are attempting to turn moonshine into a top-shelf spirit. They’re working with celebrity chef Adam Perry Lang, had a huge launch party in New York, and they’ve even appeared on the Today Show!

  1. What makes you tie that craigslist posting to Peter Chang? While ATL, makes more sense, last i heard was that he was opening something in north barracks.

  2. It's actually from "Tomorrow's News Today" an Atlanta site that reports on restaurants (link below, scroll down a bit). Plus the address is for his new Atlanta restaurant, scheduled to open by year's end.A few Atlanta news outlets have been reporting his imminent opening in Sandy Springs for months….let's just say if he's planning to open a restaurant 500 miles away less than a month later, he must be way richer than we thought :D :D

  3. Again, I had to work pretty hard to get this one:“We’re very excited to announce that Mr. Chang’s restaurant will join Barracks Road in early 2011,” said Stuart Biel, leasing associate for Federal Realty, which owns the shopping center.Property owners, especially corporate ones, don't make such statement until the contracts are signed and the deposit is in the bank. :)Dave McNairThe Hook

  4. Again? Did we speak on this topic before ;)Dave, I never hinted that I didn't think he'd open on Barracks Rd, I only hinted he'd better have a pretty fast car or a good frequent flyer miles program, because as we've seen the real draw is Chang himself. When he's in the kitchen, the people come. When he flees, they stop. To open two high-end restaurants within a month of each other is a tall order and I wish him the best. All that said, your news is welcome news. Thanks so much for sharing it. And thank you so much for reading. Cheers!
