Charlottesville City Market!

On a dreary, drizzle-drenched day like today, when all I want to do is play the MobWars application on Facebook, watch the America’s Next Top Model marathon, then curl up for a looooong nap, it helps to know that eventually, the skies *will* clear, the weather *will* warm, and Spring will spring.

An indication of this? The Charlottesville City Market begins this Saturday! Woot Woot! So get your hineys up bright and early and get down to the corner of Water and First streets in Charlottesville (just off the Downtown Mall). Bring your kids, your fuzzy fur-children, and your friends. You can find anything from potted herbs, veggies, and flowers (my faves) to yummy baked goods, to handcrafted jewelry, to brunch or lunch for yourself. Everything from organic meats to doggie treats. I dare you to go and *NOT* buy something.

Who’s your favorite City Market vendor? Don’t know the name of mine, but he sells GORGEOUS lavender plants the size of basketballs, and his stall is at the far end of the L-shaped market. He’s scruffy and always wears a Pittsburgh Steelers sweatshirt. And I sure hope he’s there Saturday because my yard is looking positively BARREN…

  1. The Baker’s Palette is my favorite. The cinnamon donuts make the trip worth it. Also, Erin McDermott’s jewelry is amazing. She makes beautiful earrings and makes them light enough so you can feel comfortable wearing them any time.

  4. Ahhh, one of the perks of moving to the south – you get fresh farmer’s market veggies that much earlier :) (and it’s also butt hot that much longer, lol!)

  5. Did you know pets aren’t allowed. City code! Please don’t bring the furry friends sometimes there is a grouchy police officer that will give you a $50 ticket for this.

  6. Whoa, I had no idea! Seems strange when they allow people to have chickens in their backyards…Thanks for the advice – hear that everyone? Bring Fido at your own risk…
